As BBG gears up for our newest performance, BBG in Blankland! we think it would be remiss of us not to share a little bit about our residency at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY.
Founded by fellow Bennington Alum Anthony Cafritz, SAW is a sculpture park and artists' colony founded in 2005. Though SAW is home mostly to visual artists, they welcomed us in early July for a residency and set us up in their newly-renovated Barn 1. We made ourselves home camping down by the pond at the base of Cary Mountain.
Days started every morning with meetings, through long afternoons of filming, making blood, and arguing, into late evenings of run-thru's and lots of Genessee Beer.
Oh yeah, we ate a lot too. Everyday we ate sandwiches. Actually, everyday we ate sandwich. The same one. Every time.
Two eggs, Cheddar, Red Peppers, Cuke, Lettuce, Mayo, Mystery Sauce We Found (chili flakes? fermented?).
On our last night we showed a preview of the show that will premiere in NYC. We couldn't have asked for a more raucous and game crowd than the SAW community for the earliest showing of this piece.
Biggest thanks to all our new friends at SAW!
